My, How Time Flies

It's difficult to believe that it has been two years since we last visited our friends in El Salvador.  We intended to teach at the village school in Munoces in 2014 but were sidetracked by a slip on the ice a month before our scheduled departure.  Warren dislocated and broke his shoulder and also spent several days in the hospital on a heart monitor due to pain medications and stress.  The road to complete recovery took several months and meant a canceled trip.

So....that brings us to 2015, a year that finds us healthy and ready to visit El Salvador once again.  We will begin by serving as International Election Observers for CIS.  We have served as observers several times before and have always appreciated the education and preparation offered by CIS, as well as enjoyed the experience of seeing the election process unfold... from preparations in the days ahead to the results following the elections.  A free and fair election process is essential to any democracy and we are pleased to have a small part in El Salvador's quest for peace and justice.
Following the election program we will make our way to Berlin, El Salvador, where we will join our friends at Casa Pastoral and our companion from First Presbyterian Church, Newton, Iowa, Kimberly Schnell, to visit our partner community, Munoces, for a 3 day delegation.  We have visited Munoces several times in the last seven years, have taught English in the elementary school there, and have come to view the families that live there as friends.  We will enjoy seeing them again and hearing about the latest news in the community.
We will attempt to keep a blog of our activities for our friends at home so that you can share our experiences.  We appreciate your interest and support and look forward to telling more stories in person.
